CineRelay

CineRelay puts your camera in your iPhone. Plug in a USB-C cable, see live view, adjust settings, import photos and clips into a library on your phone and let files upload on their own to your storage while you are still on set.

Built by Hart Studio, a video production studio in Italy, for our own work on set: by filmmakers, for filmmakers.

Note: the app interface is currently in Italian.

FREE AND CINERELAY PRO

• Free: explore the app, CineRelay detects the connected camera, browse and play files already imported into the library, manage settings

• With CineRelay Pro (7-day free trial): live view, camera controls, recording and shooting, import from the camera and automatic uploads to your storage

CAMERA CONTROL OVER USB-C (PRO)

• Full-screen live view on your iPhone

• ISO, aperture, shutter speed, exposure compensation, white balance and colour temperature

• Focus mode, AF area, eye detection, Movie Servo AF, metering, Picture Style and drive mode

• Autofocus on demand and step-by-step manual focus (near/far)

• Start and stop video recording, take photos

Available controls depend on what the camera reports in its current mode.

IMPORT AND ON-PHONE LIBRARY

• With Pro, import photos and videos from the connected camera’s card: new files only, or the whole card

• Originals on the card are never deleted

• A lightweight proxy is created for every file, so you can review footage straight away

• Browse and play the library offline, always free

CINERELAY PRO: AUTOMATIC UPLOADS TO YOUR STORAGE

• Google Drive, Dropbox or your own FTP server (implicit FTPS available as an experimental option)

• Upload originals, proxies or both, into a folder named after the day

• A queue that runs on its own: if the connection drops, the upload resumes where it stopped

• “Wi-Fi only” option to save mobile data

YOUR FOOTAGE STAYS YOURS

Your footage never touches our servers: photos and videos go straight from your iPhone to your own Google Drive or Dropbox account, or to your FTP server. We never see your files. Credentials (access tokens and FTP password) stay in this iPhone’s Keychain. Google Drive access is limited to files created by CineRelay. No ads, no tracking.

COMPATIBILITY

• Verified camera: Canon EOS R6 Mark II over USB-C. Other models will be added only after dedicated testing

• Requires an iPhone with USB-C and iOS 18 or later: iPhone 15 and later, including 16e, 17e, Air and 18 Pro

• Pro models with a USB 3 cable copy at up to 10 Gb/s, other models at USB 2 (480 Mb/s)

• Proxies (720p H.264) are created on the phone: you need space for originals and proxies

• iPhones with Lightning and iPad are not supported. Full list: cinerelay.it/compatibility.html

• Keep the app open while importing over USB. In the background, uploads continue only briefly and resume when you reopen the app

CINERELAY PRO SUBSCRIPTION

• CineRelay Pro is an auto-renewable subscription: €5.99 per month or €39.99 per year (prices for Italy including VAT; they may differ in other countries)

• New subscribers get a 7-day free trial. Unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends, the first period is charged to your Apple ID

• The subscription renews automatically at the end of each period at the same price unless you cancel at least 24 hours before it ends

• Manage or cancel any time in Settings › [your name] › Subscriptions, or in the App Store. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current paid period

• If you cancel during the trial, the trial ends and you pay nothing
